Youth exchange “Youth 4 C” is knocking on our door.

Piše: Ivana Marin — 5. September, 2018.

Youth exchange “Youth 4 C – Youth For Marine Environment” will be held in Murter, Croatia from 7th till 16th of September 2018. It will gather 40 youngsters age 18 to 25 with their leaders coming from Croatia, Serbia, Portugal, Italy, Armenia, Georgia, Latvia and Moldova to learn about the importance and protection of the marine environment.

About 71 percent of the Earth’s surface is water-covered, the oceans hold about 96.5 percent of all Earth’s water, and over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods. Sea influence on climate and weather, even the quality of the air we breathe. Despite that, oceans are facing significant problems and have been heavily affected by human activities, including fishing, coastal development, pollution from shipping, plastic pollution etc.

That’s why we want to encourage 40 youngsters to become active in finding solutions in marine/water problems, to learn not just about the importance of the marine/water environment and its protection, but also about the tolerance and respects between each other. As sea/water does not know the borders – only international cooperation can lead to saving these wealth that nature has given to us!

Through non-formal education implemented in various workshops, participants will practice their presentational, organizational, animation skills that will enrich their knowledge on environmental topics, and how to be active member of society. They will learn a lot about different cultures and traditions practicing tolerance, respect and acceptance. Participants of this youth exchange will be invited to help the local community by cleaning action, creative decoration of the children playground with warning message for sea protection, and by education of people trough Blue campaign “Let’s do it” that will be one of the final results of the project.

It’s time for some changes, it’s time for “Youth 4 C” in action.
