Dry Stone Wall Extravaganza 4 for the European Day of Languages.
Since 2001, at the Council of Europe’s initiative, on 26th September the European Day of Languages is celebrated across Europe to raise awareness about Europe’s rich and diverse cultural heritage (for more information, check https://edl.ecml.at/ ).
As there are now fifteen international volunteers coming from five different countries living and working in Murter for the short EVS project “Dry Stone Wall Extravaganza 4”, we decided to celebrate this day together with the local community. So, in the morning of 26th September we went to the local school Murterski škoji to share with the pupils and the teachers something of our different languages, cultures, and traditions.
The children (and the volunteers!) were delighted to taste delicious snacks, drinks and desserts coming from Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Spain and Croatia, and in the meanwhile they had the opportunity to learn something more about these countries through informal methods of education and to have a personal contact with people coming from different parts of Europe.
As you can see in the photos, the day was a success!
