Presentation of European Solidarity Corps in Šibenik.
Yesterday, in the premises of Europe Direct Centre in Šibenik, the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes held an informative lecture about “European Solidarity Corps – a new programme for the Youth of European Union”. This is a new programme that offers to young people the opportunity to volunteer and work in their country or abroad and to implement solidarity projects in local communities. It continues the Erasmus+ European Voluntary Service (EVS) programme, which has been upgraded with new opportunities, such as the possibility of employment and/or internship and the possibility of implementing specific initiatives for the benefit of the local community.
You can find out more about European Solidarity Corps here (in Croatian) and here (in English).
At the event were present representatives of the associations Argonauta and “Mladi u EU” and students of the Polytechnic School of Šibenik. Argonauta presented its experiences in the implementation of international volunteering programs so far. Our long-term EVS volunteer Michela from Italy and short-term EVS volunteers Ignacio from Spain and Agnieszka from Poland talked about their volunteering experiences, met some interested youngsters with EVS practice and had a chance to hear the story of volunteers from Mladi u EU. This lecture was very useful for the people that gathered there and we hope that the stories of our international volunteers will encourage young people from Croatia to join the European Solidarity Corps.
