Completion of the EVS project Dry Stone Walls Extravaganza 4.
EVS project Dry Stone Walls Extravaganza 4 is completed. Our volunteers reached their homes safely and returned to their studies, to job search or to new volunteering experiences.
Fifteen volunteers from Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, and Poland spent a month in Murter, working for the valorization of archaeological site Colentum. Their main contribution was cleaning the area from the vegetation, but they also participated in other important activities, like a workshop with the Education Centre Šubićevac in which they assisted young people with developmental issues in painting the “Happy Pebbles” of voluntarism.
In cooperation with local school Murterski škoji they also celebrated the European Day of Languages, presenting to the local population the traditions, foods and drinks of their countries. It was really interesting to see how children reacted in a positive way to all the differences presented by our volunteers.
The volunteers also had the task of exploring the history of the Colentum site and of recording educational video materials that will be used to promote it. From three different themes (volunterism, dry stone walls, activities in Colentum) and three different approaches to video production, three interesting videos were created. You can find them on the YouTube channel of association Argonauta.
At the very end of the project, the volunteers helped to organize and implement the 2nd Croatian Championship in dry stone walls building, an event organized by Argonauta in cooperation with 4 Grada Dragodid. Apart from assisting in the preparation of the area, the volunteers also actively participated in the event with their own team. With the participation of our volunteers, the championship became really international! Although the volunteers completed only just over 2 metres of wall out of 5, their desire for competition was cheered by all those gathered.
We thank our volunteers and our domestic and foreign partners for the time and effor that they invested in this project.
