Eco Hunt by Kornati for Students of the Zadar County.
On Saturday 04. 05.2019, employees of the Argonauta association and volunteers held a workshop for the best students of the Zadar County. This workshop was held as part of an excursion on the island of Murter for pupils from 5th to 8th school grade that had achieved excellent success in individual subjects. Along with the Argonauta association, the students also visited Betina and the Museum of Wooden Naval Architecture. It was planned to visit Colentum archaeological site and Mudronje Repca Local Heritage Collection, but due to bad weather, these sites were not visited.
Through the workshops of the Argonauta association, students had the opportunity to learn something about Murter and Kornati. Through informal methods of education, they learned that the old Kornatars used to crucify the olives they brought to the islands, and by solving the task with the unknowns, they discovered interesting informations about the number of islands of the National Park, surface, protected species and other facts related to this protected area. Through the game called Eco Hunt, we recalled some of our ancestors’ everyday activities, which could now be called ecologically motivated and thus encouraged students to think about reducing waste generation and using natural materials and renewable energy sources.
We thank the Zadar County and Čazmatrans Agency for their trust and excellent feedback on the workshop, and we want the students to happily arrive at this school year!
