The action “Together for a cleaner Adriatic” has a sequel in Murter and Betina.
ISLAND OF MURTER, August 29, 2020 – The action “Together for a cleaner Adriatic” continues this Saturday in Murter and Betina where the Association for Nature and Environmental Protection and Promotion of Sustainable Development of Argonauta will host about 60 divers from diving clubs RK Sv. Roko – Bibinje, UPA Rostrum – Split and ERK Korcula from Korcula. In addition to the cleaning actions, a small Sea Festival will be held in Murter, as part of which the exhibition “Life of the Adriatic Depths” and the prize lottery “Feed the Penshell” will be held.
Through this action, last month 70 cubic meters of waste were removed from the sea from polluted locations in Zadar, Split and Korcula, and this weekend underwater cleaning actions continue in Murter and Betina. Cleaning is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the morning at two locations; Hramina bay between Rudina square and Luka beach in Murter and the area from Porto to Kapelica in Betina, which were selected as sites significantly polluted by waste. In addition to guest divers, the cleaning will be joined by the newly established Murter diving club RK Murter-Kornati, volunteers from boats – members of the associations Latinsko idro and Betinska gajeta and other local volunteers. Utility companies, Murtela and Ježinac, will participate in the collection and proper disposal of the extracted waste.
After the cleaning actions, starting at 19:00 at the monument “Lostura” on the beach Luka, a small Sea Festival will be held. Everyone, young and old, is welcome to the Festival, in order to learn something about the sea, its inhabitants, the reason why there are almost no periscopes in the Adriatic Sea and many other things through various workshops. All visitors to the Sea Festival will have the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of surviving individuals of the periwinkle shellfish (Pinna nobilis) by participating in the prize lottery “Feed the periscope” whose draw will begin at 22:00. As part of the festival, there will be an exhibition of photographs entitled “Life of the Adriatic depths” which will take us to the beautiful underwater world of the Adriatic.
As a host and coordinator, the Argonauta Association invites all interested parties to join the planned activities and rich content in order to clean and protect the Adriatic Sea, protect its inhabitants and save the remaining endemic individuals of the Mediterranean. We would also like to thank all stakeholders and individuals from the municipalities of Murter-Kornati and Tisno who accepted the invitation to cooperate, as well as all sponsors and donors of the prize lottery.
As a thank you for participating in all cleaning actions “Together for a cleaner Adriatic”, divers will be rewarded with a dive in the diving zone Opat in NP Kornati the day after the cleaning actions in Murter and Betina.
