MONUMENT TO VOLUNTEERING.
As part of the “Stone & Sail Extravaganza 2020” project, we set up a new wooden art installation that promotes voluntarism and solidarity. This year’s short-term volunteers have already written their names on it, as well as the names of previous volunteers of our projects. The monument consists of a pentagonal wooden installation, 5 meters high and 6 benches with engraved “hashtag” markings, thus promoting our archaeological site, island, association, project, solidarity, volunteering and the ESC (European Solidarity Corps) program.
The monument was designed by development director Ivona Jadrić, according to a sketch by academic sculptor Carla Radnić, and placed on the Gradina peninsula, accessible to all to enjoy time spent under tall trees, thinking of all the volunteers who put their time and effort into doing amazing things in our local community. The monument was erected in their honor, as well as in honor of all those who have so far contributed to the entire Colentum project.
Many thanks to all involved organizations and individuals, special thanks to our shipbuilder Milan Jadrešić for making and Vedranko Juraga for help in handling the logs.
