Argonauta published the Blue Eco-Patrol manual.
MURTER, March 2, 2021 – The Association for the Protection of Nature and the Environment and the Promotion of Sustainable Development of the Argonauts has published the Blue Eco-Patrol – a manual for the implementation of an extracurricular educational program for sustainable development. The manual is the result of the Pilot Implementation of the Blue Eco-patrol educational program conducted in seven schools of Šibenik-Knin County, and implemented in partnership with the Municipality of Murter-Kornati, Murterski škoji – Murter Elementary School, and Local Action Group “More 249”. 500 printed copies of the manual will be distributed to primary schools, environmental associations, and local governments from Dubrovnik to Istria.
With the help of 7 local coordinators, leaders of the Blue Eco-patrol activities, 56 extracurricular educational activities of the Blue Eco-patrol were conducted and tested in seven schools in Šibenik-Knin County with a total of 162 participants, upper primary school students. All observations of the leaders, their review of individual activities and evaluation were recorded in order to improve the elements of the activity, achieve the set goals and ensure quality, and so that the manual itself would serve as many future users as possible. As such, the handbook is ready for use and support in the implementation of the extracurricular educational program for sustainable development in other local communities and can be downloaded here.
The manual describes in detail 8 modules (How much do we trample our planet ?, Renewable energy sources, Food, and sustainability, eRRRRRRRize yourself !, Green bingo, Together for a cleaner environment, Is the sea acidic? And Traveling exhibition: Life of the Adriatic depths) which informal methods through various topics study the concept of sustainability and give examples of action according to the principles of sustainable development. The activities of the Blue Eco-Patrol place emphasis on children as the main initiators of change and the main links that connect different members of the local community in promoting sustainable development and the concept of “think globally, act locally”.
… With this manual, the Argonauts Association has shown in a clever and indescribably tempting way what it means to spread eco-literacy – the ability to understand the basic principles of ecology and live in accordance with them. It is one of the best educational materials on sustainable development ever made in Croatia, so its application will be a real refreshment and a big step forward for all who believe that sustainable development should be the foundation of any modern education in the 21st century. “Dražen Šimleša
The Blue Eco-Patrol Handbook is intended for all those interested in sustainable development and non-formal learning methods and for all those who want to form a group of child patrols and implement Blue Eco-Patrol activities in their local community, and 500 printed examples will be sent to primary schools, environmental organizations, local governments on the coast and islands of the Republic of Croatia.
“Priručnik This handbook is a really rich source of material for teaching the future, modernizing the teaching process and adapting to the times we live in, where the modern school should and must with formal learning that is part of it and incorporates experiential learning and critical thinking and research.” Ivana Mikulandra
The project promoter and project partners believe that this unique handbook will serve as a good example in launching new initiatives in the field of sustainable development and nature and environmental protection and look forward to learning how the handbook is used to implement an extracurricular educational program for sustainable development “Blue Eco-Patrol “In many local communities! 🙂
