ARABIC CULTURE COURSE – ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS.
On Wednesday, February 15, as part of the Arabic culture course led by our volunteer Sarah from Jordan, we talked about the stages of love that can be found in Arabic words. It was interesting to hear that the Arabic language contains different words that denote different feelings associated with love; from initial sympathy, infatuation, deep love, and all the way to losing one’s mind. You can read more about this topic at the link that Sarah shared with us.
After presenting some of these words, she told us the story of the Thousand and One Night and the symbolic meaning of some of the many stories.
After a short discussion about these oriental stories, in the last part of the meeting we again wrote a little in the Arabic script, which we started last time.
Our next meeting is scheduled for two weeks, when we will cook together some of the Jordanian specialties. We will announce the place and time later, so follow us for more information!
