THE EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS ENDED AND THE SEEDLINGS WERE DISTRIBUTED… WHAT’S NEXT?.
In a modern environment of concrete and asphalt, trees create natural protection that lowers temperatures by up to 5°C. If the creation of shade is not enough reason for the expansion of green areas, there are also the benefits of reducing the noise of car traffic, better quality of the air we breathe, but also an immeasurable positive effect on the mental health of residents.
Encouraged by the mentioned facts and the desire to make Murter greener, we decided to implement the *project “DICA SADE VIŠE – A DEGREE LOWER”.
Friday, October 13, 2023 marked the implementation of the project at the “Murterski Škoji” elementary school in Murter. More than 200 olive, cypress and laurel seedlings were distributed to the students for the planting that follows this week and participation in the Murter greening campaign.
In the past 2 weeks, the Argonauti team conducted 13 educational workshops with all classes of Murterski Škoji Primary School and the Regional Department in Betina. All students learned new information about the importance of greening, the negative aspects of urban construction without greenery and the impact of green areas on average annual temperatures, and received instructions on how to participate in the #dicasadeviše campaign together with their families.
After the students learned why it is necessary to maintain and develop green areas, they will now try their hand at planting. The students took their seedlings, which they need to plant in their gardens with the help of their relatives, and the mulberry planting campaign will take place on the public area of the Murterski Škoji Elementary School in Murter on October 19, 2023. starting at 12:30 p.m. It is the day when class presidents together with teachers, Argonaut volunteers and their families will plant trees so that students can enjoy the shade of the lush canopies on hot days.
