WE PLANTING FOR SPRING.
The first eco-Wednesday in March started with a small planting event and discovering where the fruits and vegetables we buy in stores come from. 🌱🍅🍏
Children from the kindergarten group “Školjkica” – district facility Betina, part of the Kindergarten “Spužvica” – Tisno this week were thinking about how good the fruits and vegetables on the shelves of local stores are for the planet Earth. After we tested their knowledge of where certain foods come from, the children had the task of connecting different fruits and vegetables with the places they come from on a large map of the world. They were happy when they found out that Croatian production is winning in our local stores. 🫑🌽🥝
In the egg cartons, the children put soil and seeds of various plants that they will be able to watch as they grow. This was followed by painting the cans that we will use as jars for our seedlings.
Next week we will transplant our seedlings into jars, and then we will make sure that the fruits of our labor thrive! 🥦🍇🧄

*The project is financed by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia
*The European Solidarity Corps (ESS) is a program of the European Union to strengthen solidarity in various areas: from helping disadvantaged people and providing humanitarian aid to engagement for health and the environment in the EU and beyond.
The program offers young people the opportunity to respond to the needs of the community, make a concrete contribution to society, and in the process gain invaluable experience and develop new skills. The program is also intended for organizations active in the field of solidarity that want to involve young people in their activities.
Volunteers from the European Solidarity Forces program took part in the activity.
