WE PARTICIPATED IN THE 6TH YOUTH FORUM OF THE ADRIATIC-IONIAN REGION.
On Wednesday, May 15, the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion (AIE) organized the VI. Forum of the Adriatic-Ionian Youth Organization
(AIYOF6) in Šibenik.
The goal of this year’s forum is to capitalize on the youth-oriented action undertaken by AIE as part of the AI-NURECC PLUS Initiative, all in order to advance the creation of an ecosystem of youth engagement in order to reduce the gap between decision-makers and young people in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
The two round tables discussed the opportunities offered by the European Union to young people from the Adriatic-Ionian region, and the engagement of young people within the European Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian region. The forum highlighted EU projects that offer a focus on youth engagement as part of successful management at multiple levels. Along with a panel of experts from the region who are active in areas such as the circular economy, sustainable tourism, communications and digital transformation, we also had the opportunity to hear the experiences of active young citizens who, through their work, create a predisposition for greater involvement of young people in decision-making.
Through the forum, an intergenerational dialogue was promoted, which encourages youth adoption of EUSAIR’s goals and opportunities and youth-led proposal, structuring, design and implementation, as well as their greater engagement, advocacy, awareness raising and promotion of capacity building activities.
We were extremely pleased to be part of this conversation, which looks at youth as a resource and capacity for improving the region and creating a positive environment for all citizens. Creating an ecosystem of informed youth is a guarantee for a brighter future for the entire region.
