TRADITIONAL EDUCATIONAL EXCURSIONS IN NP KORNATA UNDER THE SIGN OF DOLPHINS.

Summer has come, the temperatures have risen, and what better way to use a beautiful weekend than on educational trips to the Kornati National Park! 🌏🌊

In cooperation with the professors of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zagreb, last weekend we prepared a rich educational program intended for children with mental and physical disabilities, as well as children of primary school age. More than 100 children from partner and user organizations participated in 3 trips on June 7, 8 and 9: “Šubićevac” Education Center, “Kamenčići” and “Latice” Associations, “Vjekoslav Kaleba” Elementary School in Tisno and ” Crowns of Krstić” Zadar, and Argonaut’s eco-patrols from Elementary School Vodice.

The main topic of the workshops was the favorite mammals of many – Dolphins. On a total of 3 trips, the children learned a lot of surprising information about the ways in which dolphins eat, what their fins are for, how their jaws allow them to hear and what kind of communities they live in. Memory games, drawing, surprise bags, research papers – these are all methods used to introduce children to the permanent inhabitants of the Adriatic Sea in an understandable way, and the children even had the opportunity to see them in their natural habitat.

The educational trips enabled the children to understand in an understandable way the importance of advocating for the protection of nature and the marine environment, to see the biodiversity of the Adriatic Sea and to become ecologically aware, and to apply it through their habits and behaviors. With informal methods, we can bring difficult topics to children in an accessible way, through which they will easily remember the main message because they associate it with the game and the memories they gained on the trip. Consequently, they share their experience with their families and their surroundings, thus indirectly influencing the entire local community.
