YOUTH EXCHANGE “MUSIC FOR MENTAL HEALTH” IS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED.
From October 3 to 11, Šibenik became the center of events for the latest edition of Argonaut’s youth exchange called “Music for Mental Health”. A total of 34 young people from Croatia, Tusca, Spain, Portugal, North Macedonia and Greece gathered to explore the topic of music and mental health, and to share their experiences and knowledge.
The days were filled with a series of interesting workshops. The beginning of the exchange was marked by the workshops of the facilitator Juan, who, using informal methods, connected the participants and started a conversation about the main topic for which everyone came. Through a series of creative workshops of each national team, they learned how to compose songs, a deeper understanding of song lyrics, expressing creativity through music and other methods of improving mental health. Intercultural evenings filled with presentations of cultures, traditional dances and famous delicacies enabled the participants to transcend national borders.
The crown of the whole experience was the performance at the Azimut club, which the participants designed entirely by themselves. With a diverse mix of music, our participants enchanted everyone present with their variety of songs and dances.
Through the performance, they tried to convey a powerful message: music—whether you’re involved in its creation, dancing to it, or simply enjoying it—can significantly improve your mood and mental health. Music connects people without words and transcends language barriers.
The end of this Youth Exchange does not mean the end of the project. We hope that our participants will use their experiences and knowledge to inspire and motivate their local community and beyond to take measures, activities or at least talk about mental well-being and spread the message about the importance of music for mental health, and they will achieve this through the dissemination of the project in in the following weeks.
