ECO-WEDNESDAY: SOLAR ENERGY.
This Wednesday, 12th of February, we hosted the third Eco-Wednesday workshop in Jedro, as part of this year’s ninth edition of the project “Kornati – It’s Important to Know About the Sea” 🌊.
This workshop focused on clean energy ⚡️, a concept we began discussing in the previous workshop, where we learned about Wind Energy. This time, the spotlight was on Solar Energy 🌞. We started with a quick journey through the history of energy sources: from the most polluting ones (petrol, coal, gas) ⛽ to the cleaner options (wind, water, sun) 🌱. It was amazing to see how much the children already knew about energy – definitely more than we expected at the beginning! 🤯
After this brief introduction, we got to work and created our own solar ovens using pizza boxes 🍕. And last but not least, the children helped the Argonauta Team 🧩 solve a mystery in the office… Over the past few days, someone had been leaving clues around, and the children were able to understand them and find even more clues hidden around the office 👀. This process eventually led them to solve different puzzles and discover a message behind it all: Solar Energy for a Happier Planet! 🌍💚
*The project is financed by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia
*The European Solidarity Corps (ESS) is a program of the European Union to strengthen solidarity in various areas: from helping disadvantaged people and providing humanitarian aid to engagement for health and the environment in the EU and beyond.
The program offers young people the opportunity to respond to the needs of the community, make a concrete contribution to society, and in the process gain invaluable experience and develop new skills. The program is also intended for organizations active in the field of solidarity that want to involve young people in their activities.
Volunteers from the European Solidarity Forces program took part in the activity.
