ECO-WEDNESDAY: GREENHOUSE EFFECT.

Datum objave: 26. February, 2025.

This Wednesday, February 26th, we hosted our fifth Eco-Wednesday! 🌿 Today, we talked about the greenhouse effect, how it happens, and even built our own greenhouse! 🌱

One possible explanation we found is that this effect is like a blanket made of gases (CO2, H2O) that keeps the Earth warm and allows life to thrive. 🌍 But if this blanket gets too thick because we add too many gases (from cars, factories, etc.), the Earth overheats! 😓

However, the natural greenhouse effect is actually a good and necessary thing! To show how it works, we put on our gardening gloves 🧤 and built a mini version by reusing bottles and egg cartons. We covered it all with a thin layer of plastic, decorated it to our liking, and planted some parsley. 🌿 Now, we just have to wait for it to grow! 🌱✨

*The project is financed by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia

*The European Solidarity Corps (ESS) is a program of the European Union to strengthen solidarity in various areas: from helping disadvantaged people and providing humanitarian aid to engagement for health and the environment in the EU and beyond.

The program offers young people the opportunity to respond to the needs of the community, make a concrete contribution to society, and in the process gain invaluable experience and develop new skills. The program is also intended for organizations active in the field of solidarity that want to involve young people in their activities.

Volunteers from the European Solidarity Forces program took part in the activity.
