PARTICIPATION IN THE 1ST LiRRIE WORKSHOP AS PART OF THE “AZA4ICE” PROJECT.
Yesterday, March 11, 2025, we were part of the 1st Living Responsible Research Innovation Ecosystems workshop as part of the *project “AZA4ICE” (Allocated Zones for circular Aquaculture to trigger the transition to an Inclusive and Circular Economy in aquaculture sector fostering new business opportunities and eco-consciousness society).
What is it really about?
The project leader, together with partners (visible below), want to establish a network of stakeholders according to the Quintiple-helix principle, consisting of members of the scientific, public, entrepreneurial and civil sectors, as well as the general public, in order to spread awareness about environmental protection. Work is also underway to implement an Action Plan that will be the result of all research conducted in the project. Testing and monitoring are being carried out at the mouth of the Krka River (pilot area), and the results should guide all future actions to transition to circular aquaculture.
The above *project is being implemented from January 2024 to September 2026, and is financed by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme. The total value of the project is 2.96 million euros, and in addition to the Šibenik-Knin County Development Agency, the partner consortium consists of 10 other partners from the Mediterranean region: lead partner – University of Patras (Greece), IMC Foundation – International Marine Centre (Italy), Andalusian Research & Training Institute of Agriculture, Fisheries Agrifood & Ecological production (Spain), Business and Innovation Maritime Cluster – Toulon Var Technology (France), Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, P.I. (Portugal), Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, Institute of Fish Resources (Bulgaria), Adriatic Innovation Centre (Croatia), Region Of Ionian Islands (Greece) and Dynamic Vision (Spain).
