FIRST RECYCLING WORKSHOP HELD IN IV. RELEASE OF THE “Let’s spin the circle of changes” PROJECT.
On Monday, March 17, 2025, the first Recycling Workshop was held with students from the Catholic Primary School in Šibenik as part of the ZaVRTimo Circle of Change IV project implemented by LAG more 249, whose long-standing partners we are.
The first workshop in this year’s edition aimed to educate students about the importance of environmental protection with a focus on the 7R concept. The workshop began with a fun introduction game, and then the students discussed waste, its types and disposal locations, and learned about the problem of slow-degrading plastic. The activities included games and tasks that enabled students to understand the long-term consequences of improper waste disposal.
The next part of the workshop was dedicated to waste sorting, where students in teams had to properly dispose of different types of waste in the appropriate “bins”. Through the game, they learned not only how to properly recycle, but also how to reuse materials in creative ways. In addition, students were introduced to the 7R concept (Recycle, Refurbish, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Rethink, Recover), which they applied through their own ideas for waste reduction and sustainable living.
At the end of the workshop, students participated in reflecting on their attitudes about recycling through a barometer, where they assessed their knowledge and engagement in everyday life. They were also given homework to monitor and record the amount of waste they generate, which will further develop environmental awareness and responsibility towards the environment. This workshop encouraged students to think about their habits and take steps towards a more sustainable life.
We will meet again on April 1st at the second workshop, and until then, check out the photos from this workshop 🙂
