Looking back – Moving forward!.
In April 2022, the Argonauta Association will host an ERASMUS+ project called “Looking Back – Moving Forward!”.
The goal of the youth exchange “Looking Back – Moving Forward!” is to build a bridge between the past and the future, learn from the past, and promote reconciliation, constructive dialogue, critical thinking, tolerance, understanding, and the European spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
The project will bring together young people from different contexts, from countries involved in different historical events that are still shaping the path to the future. Participants from Turkey, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Spain, and Italy will work on the same topic and focus together on one goal: learn to look at historical facts in a critical way, prevent hate speech and achieve a constructive and peaceful dialogue for the future.
GOALS: - gather 43 participants from different backgrounds to promote cultural diversity, giving them the opportunity to learn about other cultures while participating in the program and living together - collect and compare data on different historical events from different sources in order to increase the participants' knowledge of historical facts and develop their critical thinking - provide space for a constructive way of solving a controversial topic through non-violent communication methods such as debates and mixed group conversations, learn about historical events in an interesting and fun way through researching historically significant places, encourage reconciliation and remembrance - prepare a twenty-day digital campaign that promotes the values of the project - collect stories of older generations about various historical events and develop a digital book with the aim of preserving historical heritage through narration and testimony of people who lived through some historical events - prepare and conduct an open poetry/story reading event (stories/songs of historical figures or events important to the countries involved) for the local community, raising awareness at the local level about diversity and promoting European cooperation.
