Sea-Stainability.
The Argonauta Association is a partner of LAGUR Galeb from Tribunj together with the School of Tourism and Hospitality in Šibenik and the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries Split on the SEA-stainability project.
The overall objective of the SEA-stainability project is to contribute to economic and social cohesion in Central Dalmatia through education for sustainable development in the fisheries and gastronomy sector. We will contribute to the achievement of this goal by conducting study visits and workshops for students of the Tourism and Hospitality School Šibenik and bringing them together in a training program for sustainable development.
Support for education for sustainable development will be provided by scientists from the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (IZOR) by educating students and developing educational material on sustainable fisheries and marine waste.
IZOR scientists will hold public lectures and develop guidelines with the Argonauta Association to create educational playbooks for children and young people to raise public awareness of the importance of the United Nations’ global sustainable development goals: Responsible Consumption and Production and Conservation of the Aquatic World.
To strengthen capacities for the future education of children and young people in Šibenik-Knin County on sustainable development, vocational training of primary and secondary school teachers will be facilitated.
GOALS: I. To broaden knowledge, strengthen skills and attitudes about sustainable development of students and teachers of the Šibenik Tourism and Hospitality School within the framework of formal education or regular curriculum. II. Strengthen the competences of secondary and primary school teachers for education for sustainable development (hereinafter ESD). III. Raise public awareness of the importance of the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals: Responsible Consumption and Production and Conservation of the Aquatic World.
