Then we presented the different types of fishing vessels found at sea and in the ocean, from small local boats to the enormous vessels used in large-scale fishing.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After that, we carried on with the fishing game. In the first round, the children were little boats and had to catch fish using fishing lines. The aim of this activity was to show them that this method of fishing takes longer but is better for the environment, as we only catch what we need.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the second round, the children became large ships and could \"catch\" fish directly with their hands, thus representing fishing nets. The aim was to show that in the same amount of time you can catch far more fish this way, but you can also catch endangered species, which leaves fewer fish in the sea.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We concluded the workshop by emphasising that large-scale fishing can be dangerous for the marine environment. Although small-scale, local fishing yields a smaller catch, it is a better and more sustainable option.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For this final workshop, we would especially like to thank all the children who have taken part in this project over the past two months. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Lantana Caf\u00e9 for allowing us to use their premises to hold our workshops.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once again, this was a great, successful workshop and a wonderful season.
