Zlarin Croatian Coral Center.

The Argonauta Association participates as a partner on the project of the city of Šibenik, the Croatian Coral Center Zlarin, together with the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas and Other Protected Areas of Nature of the Šibenik-Knin County – Nature and the Zlarin Tourist Board.

GOALS: The main objective of the project proposal is to contribute to sustainable local development through the establishment of the Croatian Coral Center Zlarin. HCKZ will aim to increase the attractiveness of the destinations within the Natura 2000 ecological network (Drvenik Island and related sites), which will be based on the activities of promotion and valorisation of natural heritage, and strengthening the educational capacities of the local population and visitors on the importance of nature protection with their activities. contributes to addressing the following shortcomings: development of a modern visitor infrastructure with innovative facilities, the possibility of interactive participation and education of visitors in activities related to raising the awareness of the importance of conservation of endangered species and protected areas, development of interpretive and educational programs for children and young people, education of CCC staff and partner organizations, but also the local community.

USERS: The target groups and final beneficiaries of this project are: 6 HCKZ employees and 4 employees of partner organizations - lack of knowledge of modern natural heritage management, modern tools and processes that are in line with market trends and visitor requirements; the local population of the island of Zlarin (284) - low level of awareness and awareness of natural resources and conservation measures; current (5,698) and future visitors to the natural heritage destinations - need to offer attractive natural heritage that provides a direct experience and enables the acquisition of new knowledge about natural heritage actively and inclusively; scientists and researchers - need quality infrastructure and equipment and facilities to conduct research more effectively; elementary school children and young people - need a better educational content on the nature itself and the need for protection, volunteers - need innovative experiences, introductions and active contribution to the community; all residents of SCC - who will also use the developed project results and become more familiar with the county's natural heritage.

DONORS: European Structural and Investment Funds through the Central Agency for Financing and Contracting of EU Programs and Projects, through Call for Proposals Promoting the sustainable development of natural heritage under the Operational Program "Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020", with co-financing of stakeholders and partners.

DURATION: The implementation period is 36 months, from June 1, 2018, to June 1, 2021.

BUDGET: The total value of the project is 24.127.147,50. The City of Šibenik received a grant of HRK 13,332,404.97 within the Call for Proposals to Promote the Sustainable Development of Natural Heritage within the Operational Program "Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020".
