Island Extravaganza 2025: Art workshop.

Last Friday, our volunteer Krista led an abstract art workshop as part of Island Extravaganza 2025. We painted in layers and used a fun straw-blowing technique to create unique pieces. Some shapes surprised us – but turned out amazing! Here are our works and their meanings:
1. Eruption of Pompeii: The drawing shows lava flowing down from the volcano, engulfing the city. Yellow represents the life that once was and will continue to be in the city.
2. Friday Morning: This painting speaks about acceptance.
3. Mental Maze: The painting refers to the concept of overthinking.
4. Enjoy the moment!: This playful composition features splashes of pink, red and yellow. A straw is incorporated into the artwork, adding a surprising, tactile element.
5. Alchemical process of paths: A path of alchemy where multiple paths lead to many transformations.
6. Flare Within: This painting captures the untamed vitality of life fighting against approaching outside forces of chaos and decay that threaten to suppress it.
