Two educational trips were held as part of the project “Kornati – it’s important to know about the sea 9”.
As part of the project “Kornati – It’s important to know about the sea 9”, funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, two educational trips to the Kornati National Park were held with the aim of bringing the natural science and social values of this unique archipelago closer to children and young people.
The first trip was held on May 22, 2025, and the second yesterday, June 11. The workshops on the first trip were conducted by the Argonauta association, and the main topic was the sea, but also the favorite children’s mammal – the dolphin! Through various activities and quizzes, the participants learned about the behavior and habitat of these marine animals, and some even drew each other as dolphins. It was a fun activity! We also raised awareness about the pollution of our Adriatic Sea, but also jointly came up with the steps we must take every day to protect it.
During the second trip, the workshops were conducted by professors from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb, who introduced the children to the specifics of dolphins through interesting educational content. Participants had the opportunity to touch and see the bones of a dolphin’s jaw and fins in person! The participation of our university partners further enriched the participants’ experience and contributed to a high level of education. We believe that through interactive workshops, children not only acquire new knowledge, but also develop empathy, collaboration skills and mutual respect.
Previous experience shows that such excursions have a strong impact on the development of interest in natural science topics, strengthen awareness of environmental protection and encourage quality socialization among children. We thank all participants for being part of our excursions and look forward to new meetings on the Kornati Islands!
