eco-wednesday: How Do We Fish?.

Datum objave: 2. July, 2025.

This Eco-Wednesday, July 2nd, we held a workshop on fishing techniques called “How Do We Fish?”.
We talked about the different methods humans use to fish — which ones are the most harmful, and which are the most respectful toward the ocean and the life within it.

We began by introducing ourselves and sharing our favourite Adriatic Sea animals. After that, we pulled some objects and animals out of the sea… and what did all the objects have in common? They were all fishing tools! From rods to large trawlers, we found many things in the water.

Then, we gave the children a comic strip with five panels and invited them to create their own story. We heard some truly imaginative tales!

To finish the workshop, we played a board game. Divided into two teams, the children helped two little fish reach the sea. By rolling a special die made of fishing techniques — where the most sustainable methods scored higher and the more harmful ones scored lower — they moved along the 45-step path and helped the fish return to their home.

Thank you so much for joining us at Lantana! We’ll be back next Wednesday with a new topic. See you soon!

*Workshops are being conducted as part of the project “3,2,1…green!”. The project is financed by the Šibenik-Knin County.

*The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a European Union program aimed at strengthening solidarity in various fields: from helping those in need and providing humanitarian aid to engaging in health and environmental efforts within the EU and beyond.

The program offers young people the opportunity to respond to community needs, make a tangible contribution to society, and gain invaluable experience while developing new skills. The program is also intended for organizations active in the field of solidarity that wish to involve young people in their activities.

The activity involved volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps program.
