BELOW THE SURFACE: ANA AND THERESA MAY AND JUNE.
Behind Ana and Theresa are the dynamic last months full of travel, fun, education… that’s what it looks like on the outside, but what’s “inside”?
In order to look at their experience in a deeper way, we used the visual metaphor of an iceberg.
The visible part above the surface symbolizes positive impressions, new friendships, useful knowledge and all the beautiful things that volunteering brings them… while the hidden part below the surface represents personal challenges, insecurities, nostalgia, as well as moments of doubt that are an integral part of life, and so every month. This time it was May and June.
This simple but powerful method of reflection helped them to become aware of and accept all aspects of their experience — both the bright and the dark sides.
Our girls say that this exercise was extremely useful for them, and it may prove valuable for you too.
Try it – what’s hiding beneath your surface?
