Island Extravaganza 2026 – ESC Team Volunteering

The project focuses on social challenges related to the insufficient promotion of the cultural and historical heritage of the island of Murter and the preservation of traditional intangible heritage within the local community. Through the involvement of international ESC volunteers and activities based on non-formal learning, the project contributes to raising awareness of the importance of local culture, heritage, and identity, while simultaneously promoting intercultural dialogue and European solidarity.

Project objectives

  • to contribute to the revitalization and promotion of the tangible and intangible cultural and historical heritage of the island of Murter through the involvement of the local community and international volunteers
  • to raise awareness among the local community and visitors about the importance of preserving cultural and archaeological heritage, with a special focus on the Colentum Archaeological Park
  • strengthen the transfer of knowledge about local traditions, culture, and heritage through informal, educational, and participatory activities
  • To enrich the organizational culture of the Argonauta Association by involving international ESC volunteers and to promote the values of multiculturalism, solidarity, and acceptance of diversity through local action.
  • The initiative aims to link local, social, and cultural issues with European values, following the “think globally, act locally” approach
