INVOLVING YOUTH IN PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES
What is the European Solidarity Corps?
Imagine being part of something that changes lives—not just your own, but also the lives of others! The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) offer you exactly that: an opportunity to join real solidarity projects and contribute to social change.
The ESC bring together young people aged 18 to 30 and give you various opportunities: whether you want to volunteer individually or in a team, gain professional experience through an internship or job, or start your own solidarity project.
And that’s not all—everything is financially covered: travel, accommodation, food, pocket money, plus mentoring and language support. At the end of the project, you receive a Youthpass certificate as proof of all the skills and experiences you gained.
Sounds unreal? We know! Get informed and seize your chance—join in and become part of a generation that builds a better and more inclusive Europe.
ESC VOLUNTEERS IN ARGONAUTI ACTIVITIES
Argonauta and the European Solidarity Corps
Our association has been actively engaged in international volunteering projects, having hosted around 150 volunteers—about 120 in short-term programs of 4 weeks, and 34 in long-term programs that mostly lasted 12 months, from 2011 to 2025.
Besides hosting, we’ve also enabled mobility ourselves—so far, we’ve sent around 15 volunteers abroad to other countries and organizations.
ESC volunteers in Argonauta’s projects take part in diverse tasks that contribute to preserving cultural heritage and protecting the environment on the island of Murter. Some of their tasks include:
- Cleaning the environment (beaches and forests)
- Promoting the association’s activities through media content (videos, articles, social media)
- Organizing and running educational workshops for children and youth
- Updating websites and managing social media
- Helping organize community events related to ecological awareness
- Presenting their culture, customs, and traditions to the local community
- Writing blogs and creating digital materials (videos, visuals) about their volunteering experience and the association’s work
The working methods are based on non-formal learning—through hands-on work, workshops, reflection and evaluation games, and assisting in event organization.
As a host organization, Argonauta prepares volunteers for their activities, provides continuous support during their service, and acts as a partner in their reintegration once they return to their home countries.
Since 2020, Argonauta has been a holder of the ESC Accreditation and, within it, hosts long-term volunteers through projects like WIN – Volunteer in Murter! and Island Extravaganza.
Each project offers young volunteers the chance to gain new knowledge and skills, contribute to the local community, and enjoy the unique life experience of living and working on a small Croatian island.

Our experiences
Our journey with international youth mobility began back in 2011, when we first became a host organization. From then until today, our goal has remained the same—to bring goodwill, youth energy, volunteerism, cultural and linguistic exchange into our organization and local community, while together building tolerance and understanding so we can grow—both as individuals and as a community.
With every new volunteer, our experience in coordinating volunteer work grew. Each year, we became more competent and prepared to offer volunteers a higher-quality, richer, and more meaningful volunteering experience in Croatia—on a small island, in an active local community, within a civil society organization dedicated to protecting nature, the environment, and sustainable development.
We are confident that the experiences volunteers gain in Murter with Argonauta bring them new knowledge, skills, and memories they carry with them through life—and will always cherish.
That’s how our global Argonauta alumni network was created—a community of dear people we proudly keep in touch with and count as part of our family.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN YOUTH
Why volunteer?
Volunteering is not just about helping others—it’s an investment in your own development. By participating in mobility programs, you open doors to experiences that shape your skills and personal path.
Through volunteering, you develop communication and organizational abilities, learn decision-making, teamwork, and build confidence—the very skills most sought after in today’s job market. In addition, every stay abroad enriches you with new languages, intercultural understanding, and leadership competencies.
Beyond personal growth, volunteering helps you make new friends across Europe, expand your network of contacts, and open doors to future career opportunities.
