Kornati – 10 Things You Should Know About the Sea

The KORNATI – IT’S IMPORTANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE SEA 10 project aims to raise awareness of the value of nature, with a special focus on the Kornati archipelago. Through educational programs and hands-on activities, the project promotes the protection of the sea and the environment and fosters the development of environmental awareness among children of various ages.

The project consists of three components. The first includes educational field trips to Kornati National Park, during which children learn about the importance of nature conservation through topics in geology, marine and terrestrial biology, and cultural and historical heritage, with a special emphasis on inclusion and mutual respect. The second component comprises Eco-Wednesday workshops, designed for preschoolers and lower elementary school students, which are held once a week during the spring months and are based on informal learning about the marine and environmental systems. The third component, Argonaut’s Eco-Patrol, is intended for upper-grade elementary school students and includes regular meetings and field activities such as beach cleanups, observing sea turtles and birds, and identifying and addressing local environmental issues.

Through all its activities, the project combines education, fieldwork, and children’s active participation in nature conservation, laying the groundwork for long-term care for the marine environment and the local community.
