On Friday, 29 May, the Luka beach in Murter became a meeting place for technology, environmental protection and youth education. As part of the eco-educational initiative "Sretno more", run by Telemach in collaboration with partners from Innovamare, a seabed clean-up was carried out, while on land Argonauta conducted educational activities aimed at pupils and young people. The project combined concrete activities for the protection of the sea with raising awareness of the importance of preserving the marine environment.

At our workshop, pupils from Murterski Škoji Primary School and secondary school students from Germany on an Erasmus+ exchange gathered. Through a series of energisers and interactive activities, the participants had the opportunity to get to know one another, connect and prepare for joint learning about the sea and its values.

The central part of the workshop was an educational quiz about the Kornati Islands, one of the most valuable natural areas in the Croatian Adriatic. Through questions on natural features, biodiversity, cultural heritage and the challenges facing the marine environment, participants tested their knowledge and learned numerous interesting facts. The Kornati archipelago is renowned for its exceptional scenic value, rich marine life and centuries-old connection between humans and the sea.

We have placed particular emphasis on the problem of marine pollution and the importance of responsible environmental behaviour, and education for children and young people is one of the key steps towards creating generations that will understand the value of natural resources and actively participate in their conservation.

While the youngsters on land were learning about the sea, underwater clean-up activities were being carried out by divers and project partners. During the operation, approximately 300 kilograms of waste were removed from the seabed, once again confirming how important such initiatives are for the preservation of the Adriatic.

Argonauta's participation in this initiative is a continuation of our long-standing work in nature conservation, marine education, and the sustainable development of island communities. Knowledge, experiential learning and collaboration among various stakeholders are key to creating positive change, and every workshop, quiz or conversation with young people represents an investment in the future of our islands and seas.
