Over the past two months, our volunteer Naelys, with the help of another volunteer, One, successfully carried out her personal project titled “Colors of My Island.”

The project consisted of four art workshops for 11 children aged 6 to 14, on the theme „Colors of My Island“Each child was invited to freely express their personal vision of the island through painting, thereby encouraging creativity and imagination.

At the end of the workshops, the children's works were exhibited on the main square as part of an open-air exhibition, transforming the space into a temporary outdoor gallery. The exhibition ran for three days and allowed residents and tourists to experience Murter through the eyes of its youngest inhabitants.

To make the exhibition even more interesting and interactive, several additional activities were organized. One installation invited visitors to share what Murter means to them, using threads of different colors to compare the perceptions of locals and tourists. The second activity involved a large flip chart that served as a shared canvas where everyone – children and adults, locals and visitors – could draw their vision of the island, creating a collaborative work of art that brought together different perspectives and experiences.

The goal of the project was to raise visitors' awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting the local environment through the authentic, personal perspectives of children. In addition, selected children's works were turned into postcards that were distributed to visitors to promote the island and support this initiative.
