Yesterday, our volunteer Naelys held another workshop from the Summer Eco Wednesdays series in Lantana. 🌊🐢

This time, the children learned about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch—how it's formed, where it's located, and why it's such a serious environmental problem.

Our special guest, Ana the Pirate, explained how plastic pollution affects marine life and how marine animals can easily be injured or entangled in plastic waste.

To experience that challenge firsthand, the children played a game in which they had to transfer a hoop from one person to another as quickly as possible, imagining it was a piece of plastic waste they had become entangled in.

In the end, they went on a rescue mission to save a turtle trapped in plastic, which helped them realize how dangerous plastic pollution can be for sea turtles and other marine animals. 💙♻️
