During this Eco Wednesday, our little explorers became Detectives of the Adriatic Animal World and discovered some of the fascinating species that live in the Adriatic Sea — as well as the challenges they face.

We started with a fun game. True or falseDuring which we checked what the children already knew about marine animals and the dangers they might encounter. Together we explored how pollution, waste, fishing activities and vessels can affect marine life and why protecting endangered species is so important.

Then it was time to solve the mystery! The children got their own Detective passports and set out in search of hidden clues. By combining the clues, they discovered five species: Loggerhead turtle, Mediterranean monk seal, bottlenose dolphin, Mediterranean gull and weaselThey learnt interesting facts about each animal, from where they live and what they eat to how they communicate.

In the second activity, the little detectives had to Find the hidden dangers in the scene of the Adriatic Sea.They recognised threats such as rubbish, fishing nets and vessels, and discussed which animals might be affected by each.

After they had discovered the dangers, it was time to think about solutions. Divided into groups, the children devised A safe home for its assigned species. They selected useful elements such as clean water, food, rocks, posidonia and calm areas, while learning why rubbish, fishing nets and other human activities can make the sea unsafe for animals.

In the end, we finished the workshop. creative activity, during which the children created their own gallery of endangered Adriatic animals.

Through games, exploration, teamwork and creativity, the children discovered that keeping the sea clean, respecting marine habitats and understanding the challenges faced by animals are small but important steps towards a healthier Adriatic Sea.
