The Argonaut Association invites illustrators to participate in a public competition to create illustrations for a historical short story “Verice from Ivinje” by Jelena Obratov.
We are seeking an author whose artistic expression will best convey the atmosphere, characters and setting of the short story, and contribute to the presentation of the cultural and historical heritage of the Municipality of Tisno.
Conditions of participation:
- The submitted illustration must be an original work of the author. The use of AI-based content generation tools is not permitted.
- The technique used to create the illustration is open (digital illustration, watercolour, ink, printmaking, mixed media, etc.).
For the purposes of this competition, a title illustration for the short story and illustrations of its main characters (Frane and Lucio) must be created. The cover illustration serves as a sample piece against which the illustrator's personal style, visual approach and suitability for further collaboration will be assessed. At this stage, it is not necessary to produce illustrations for the interior content of the short story.
The author whose work is selected will subsequently be commissioned to produce the remaining illustrations for the short story, a total of 8–10 illustrations.
The cover illustration must be designed to allow space for the subsequent insertion of the story's title and the logos of the donors – the Municipality of Tisno and the competition organiser, the Argonauta Association.
Submissions must be provided as .JPG or .PNG files, with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (for print).
Prize:
- The prize is €700.00.
