Today, our volunteer Naelys led the 6th Eco-Wednesday as part of the “Kornati – It's Important to Know About the Sea 10” project, co-financed by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth 🌱🌊
The goal of today's workshop was to introduce the children to the concept of renewable energy.
For that purpose, we had an engaging discussion to introduce them to the topic and assess their prior knowledge.
First, they had to find their way out of a maze to get to nature, choosing between different types of energy production: wind turbines, oil, and coal. The goal was to show them that it's better to use wind turbines as a source of energy because they protect our environment, after which we tested their powers of observation; they were all given a drawing of a landscape to color and complete by adding wind turbines, based on what they were used to seeing. This activity was intended to introduce them to the idea of wind turbines existing in their environment.
The next activity was making their own small paper windmill, which gave them a tangible result of their work.
We ended the workshop with a short game to give the children some extra movement, with an emphasis on the theme.
See you next week at the new workshop! 😉
