Today, 5 May, at the Jedro Community Centre we hosted our first-year pupils from Murter and Betina. Fifteen little curious heads set off on a sort of mini-tour of the island of Murter, and their final stop was at the Argonauta association.

The aim of the meeting was to introduce them to the rich history of the Colentum site, an ancient Roman city that once stood in this area. Although the weather was against us and we were unable to visit the site itself, that did not prevent us from bringing this location closer to the children through creative activities.

We began the workshop with icebreakers, after which the little explorers set off in search of "hidden" mosaics around the office. Through this interactive activity, they learned about everyday life at Colentum and also developed team spirit and cooperation. As a final task, they tried their hand at creating mosaics using the collage technique.

We were particularly delighted by their teamwork. Although they are still divided into two groups — Murter and Betina — and are yet to be merged into a single class, they decided to present the headteacher with the mosaic they had made together, because, as they themselves concluded, she belongs to them all.

One of the most charming moments was when we asked them if they knew who had once lived on Colentum. Their spontaneous reply – "Bosnians!" – genuinely made us laugh and further brightened the whole encounter.
