Christmas is a time filled with unique traditions around the world. Last Wednesday, 10 December, our volunteer Ona from Spain shared with the pupils of Murterski Škoji Primary School some of the most special customs from her native region, Catalonia.
the caganer caganera and Tió de Nadal, explaining their meaning and how they are celebrated during Christmas. These traditions gave the students a fun and different perspective on the festive season, broadening their cultural knowledge.
After the presentation, they had the opportunity to make their own Tió de Nadal, a symbol of Catalan culture which, according to tradition, brings presents to the children who look after it on Christmas Eve, 24th December. The activity was very interesting and stimulating, and it allowed the students to experience this special Catalan tradition first-hand.
Through this experience, they not only learned about other Christmas customs but also enjoyed creating and sharing together, fostering an appreciation of cultural diversity and traditions from around the world.
