December blog

December blog

Hi Argonautas,
Welcome to another blog of mine.

This December went by very quickly, as it was full of workshops and travels. We started the month with our first workshop that we organized and led, and it was… well… to be honest, chaotic.
Facing Croatian teenagers for the first time was a challenge. We struggled to be understood, and they had so much energy that leading the workshop was quite draining. However, they had a good time, so our mission was accomplished.

Then we continued the month with many other workshops, some in schools and others outside. Each time, it was a great experience to step out of the office and do something I consider more concrete than working on the computer. My favorite workshop was the one with the kindergarten. First, because I felt really comfortable with our activities, and second, because even though we didn’t speak the same language and the children were very young, we still managed to understand each other through the games we played. I just loved that atmosphere, and they were so cute!

Continuing with work experiences that month, we had our first meeting with our partners for our personal project. I was both excited and stressed because this project is entirely ours, and we’ve put a lot of effort into it. It means a lot to me, and I really wanted everything to go well. I was not disappointed, the partners liked the idea and approved the project! Now the real work begins, and I am really looking forward to it.

Now that I’ve covered the work aspect of December, let me tell you about the personal side. First, with Ona, we decided to fully embrace the Croatian experience, which means swimming every month no matter the temperature. Well, we still try to do it when it’s sunny because it’s very cold, but the view and the feeling are worth it every time.

Then, since Ona is a Christmas-freak, we wanted to visit a truly beautiful Christmas market. We first went to Šibenik, the town next to Murter, but even though the city is amazing, the Christmas market wasn’t very impressive. So we decided to go to the “country of Christmas markets”: Germany, Munich.

We spent a weekend there, and it was an amazing experience. We met Theresa, the previous Argonauta volunteer, explored the city, enjoyed its specialties, went to the cinema, and, last but not least, soaked in the Christmas atmosphere!

Finally, to end the month, we both went back to our families for Christmas. I had a great time seeing my friends and family. It recharged my energy, and I am now fully ready to return to my life in Croatia.

Hope you enjoyed reading this, see you next month.
Bye!
