On Monday, October 5, the volunteers started their day at the Jedro Community Centre, where they worked together to create an educational video explaining the planting process using terra preta. Through this activity, they had the opportunity to combine creativity and teamwork with learning about sustainable practices and ways to contribute to environmental protection. Creating educational content also allowed them to share their newly acquired knowledge with others in an engaging and accessible way, demonstrating how digital content can be a valuable tool for raising awareness of important environmental issues.
After their work at Jedro, the volunteers headed to the children’s playground to finish the mural they had been working hard on over the previous days. For the final touch, they chose something special – their own handprints! In this way, they added a personal touch to the mural and left behind a small but lasting reminder of their time spent on Murter. Their colourful handprints symbolise togetherness, creativity, and the contribution of young people who chose to dedicate some of their time and energy to the local community.
On Tuesday, October 6, the volunteers took part in a major clean-up action on Raduč Hill. This time, they joined forces with young people participating in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “VOLIN: Volunteering is IN” and the local utility company Murtela.
By cleaning the tunnels on Raduč and the surrounding area, they demonstrated how cooperation, dedication, and the involvement of different groups can contribute to preserving the environment around us. The meeting of the two groups of young volunteers was also an opportunity to connect, exchange experiences, and work together for the benefit of the local community. After all their hard work, the participants enjoyed a well-deserved snack and some time to socialise. Because volunteering is not just about completing tasks – it is also about making new connections, sharing experiences, and feeling that we have accomplished something meaningful together.
A big thank you to all the volunteers from the ISLAND EXTRAVAGANZA 2026 project, the participants of the “VOLIN: Volunteering is IN” Youth Exchange, and the Murtela utility company for their cooperation, hard work, and positive energy! Together, we continue to make Murter a more beautiful, cleaner, and more sustainable place. 🌿💙
