Volunteers of the ISLAND EXTRAVAGANZA 2026 project have started a new creative action that will leave a lasting mark on the local community – painting a wall on the children's playground at Luke beach.🏖️🎨
In collaboration with the Murtela municipal company, our volunteers came up with an idea for decorating the space used daily by Murter children. The goal is to bring more color, joy, and creativity to the children's playground and create a space where the youngest will enjoy playing and socializing even more.🛝🍭
The first step was to prepare the wall for painting. The volunteers covered it with white paint, creating a blank canvas for the new mural. The white background symbolizes a new beginning, and now comes the fun part – transforming their ideas into colors and shapes.🎨✨
But the mural wasn't the only thing our volunteers did today. As part of their activities, they sanded and painted the benches in the park and the benches on Luke Beach, refreshing the space and making it more pleasant for locals and visitors to use.🪑🌿
In addition to working in the field, they also used the time to connect with other volunteers. In an online meeting with volunteers from Sicily and North Macedonia, they exchanged experiences about their projects, activities, and daily life while volunteering.🌍💻🤝
The exchange of experiences is one of the important parts of such projects - young people from different countries have the opportunity to learn from each other, share ideas and connect through shared volunteering experiences.
While working on the mural, our volunteers also exchanged different ideas and came up with motifs that would best suit the space and its youngest users. It is their creativity that will soon bring the playground wall to life and give it a completely new look.🧁
These activities are not just an opportunity to decorate public spaces. They allow young people to get to know the local community, collaborate with it, and leave something behind with their work that will remain after they leave Murter.
We look forward to seeing the final result and the moment when the mural will be completed. And when our volunteers leave the island, their work will remain here – as a small reminder of the time they spent on Murter, the people they met and the shared moments they created.💚🌊
