On March 20, 2026, the second Eco-Patrol workshop was held at OŠ Vodice. This time, the topic was biodiversity and ecosystems. The workshop began by introducing students to the concept of biodiversity – the diversity of all living beings on Earth, including plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms. The importance of each species in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem was emphasized. Healthy ecosystems purify the air and water, regulate the climate, pollinate plants, protect the soil from erosion, and provide life resources for people and other species.
Through the workshop, students realized how biodiversity loss weakens ecosystems and increases vulnerability to climate change, diseases, and pollution, and why conserving biodiversity is crucial for a sustainable future.
Through games and hands-on activities, students learned about biodiversity and ecosystems:
What is my superpower? – Children described “superpowers” without using the names, including natural qualities like altruism and resilience, fostering creativity and mutual respect.
Where do you belong? By selecting cards of different organisms, students formed ecosystems and food chains, understanding the interconnectedness of all species.
The Web of Life – by playing with a ball of yarn, they showed how the loss of one species can affect the entire ecosystem.
The workshop was interactive, educational, and fun, fostering environmental awareness and teamwork among the students.
