On March 19, 2026, the first Eco Patrol was held at the premises of Vodice Elementary School as part of the “Kornati – It's Important to Know 10 About the Sea” project, which is funded by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth.
The goal of the project is to raise awareness about the importance of preserving nature and the environment and to encourage the development of a responsible attitude toward sustainable development among students. The workshop began with an introductory address by the facilitator, who introduced participants to the concept of non-formal learning and the goals of the Eco-Patrol – learning through experience, the exchange of ideas, and joint action in environmental protection.
The workshops are designed as an open and stimulating space for conversation, questions, and practical activities, where students actively participate and contribute their own ideas. The emphasis is on understanding sustainable development as a set of everyday decisions that each of us can make – from responsible resource use to caring for the nature in our immediate surroundings.
The first module of workshops is dedicated to the topic eco-literacy, and through three activities, students had the opportunity to learn, discuss, and act:
- Environmental Dictionary By learning the basic concepts, students learned to distinguish between “ecology” and “eco,” and they tested their knowledge through an interactive game with lots of laughter and teamwork.
- Green Profile The students created their own environmental profiles and shared tips for preserving the environment, emphasizing the importance of responsible paper use and recycling. Their work shaped a symbolic “tree of knowledge.”
- (Impossible) Mission Through teamwork, they tackled a series of tasks related to everyday environmental habits, including calculating their ecological footprint. Although they didn't manage to complete all the tasks in the allotted time, they concluded the day by planting a plant as a concrete step toward more sustainable behavior.
Through activities like these, we continue to build awareness, knowledge, and responsibility for the environment together—step by step, toward a sustainable future.
