On Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 November, two significant project events were held. RECinMED, co-financed by the programme Interreg Euro-MEDAs a partner in the project, Argonauta participated in the project meeting and the public workshop dedicated to the development of energy communities on the islands. These two days were marked by an intensive exchange of knowledge, planning of future activities and the networking of experts, institutions and the local community.

26 November 2025 – International meeting of project partners in Split

On 26 November, an international partner meeting for the RECinMED project began in Split, bringing together organisations and experts from Mediterranean countries with the aim of promoting the development of inclusive energy communities. 

During the working day, the partners addressed a series of key topics that determine the direction and dynamics of the project's implementation. Coordination with the Thematic Community on Renewable Energy, the Euro-MED Academy, the IDP and the Joint Secretariat (JS) was discussed to ensure that project activities are aligned with the Euro-Mediterranean strategic frameworks. Materials for the upcoming international event were also presented. training Training to build the capacity of local communities and professionals involved in the development of energy communities.

The central part of the meeting was dedicated to presenting the status of the implementation of three pilot actions in urban, rural and island areas, which represent models in which energy communities can be established and function successfully. The project team provided an assessment of the current progress and recommendations for further work, which opened up space for discussion by working groups in thematic areas.

The meeting also discussed other key project components, including communication, management, finance and monitoring the project's carbon footprint. In particular, the progress of activities and the planning of capacity-building activities through three upcoming international webinars were analysed. The day concluded with the presentation of the third work package and an open discussion among the partners on the project's future steps.

27 November 2025 – Public workshop on the development of energy communities on the island of Šolta

The next day, the focus shifted to the island of Šolta, where a public workshop on the development of energy communities was held at the Bratska House in Grohotena. In collaboration with the Municipality of Šolta and the RERA S.D. public institution, the workshop brought together local stakeholders and decision-makers, institutional representatives, interested citizens and project partners with the aim of familiarising the island's population with the concept of energy communities.

The public body RERA S.D. presented the progress of the pilot action on Šolta, emphasising the process from initial planning to the active involvement of citizens and local organisations. Of particular value was the presentation by representatives of Neapolis University Pafos, who presented an analysis of the suitability of locations on Šolta in the context of the broader Mediterranean energy transition and highlighted the island's role as an ideal area for the application of renewable energy sources.

Argonauta presented its contribution to the project, emphasising community empowerment and education on renewable energy sources. The importance of involving citizens in decision-making and developing energy communities that are inclusive, sustainable and beneficial to the local population in the long term was highlighted.

By participating in both events, Argonauta further strengthened its role in the RECinMED project and within the regional community of organisations working on the development of energy communities. These two days demonstrated how crucial collaboration among partners, expert exchange and active citizen involvement are to the success of energy communities in the Mediterranean region.
