Workshops with students of the Traffic and Technical School: How to protect the sea and the marine environment in real-life situations?

On 4 April, two educational workshops were held at the Transport and Technical School with students training for the profession of Yacht and Marina Technician.

The workshops were carried out as part of the project Kornati Eco Camp 2026, whose donor is Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds.

The aim of the workshops was to develop awareness of responsible behaviour at sea and in its environment, with a particular emphasis on making decisions that protect nature, ensure people's safety and uphold professional ethics.

Through an interactive and practical approach, students were confronted with real-life situations they may encounter in their future work – such as mooring in posidonia-covered areas, dealing with fuel leaks, improper waste disposal and assessing the safety of equipment in the marina.

Particular emphasis was placed on developing critical thinking and taking responsibility in situations where guest expectations, work pressure and safety regulations conflict.

Through group work and role-playing games, the students analysed possible reactions, decisions and their consequences, concluding that the quality of work at sea depends not only on technical knowledge but also on the readiness to make the right decisions at crucial moments.

The workshops concluded with a discussion on professional ethics and the importance of preserving the sea, with the message that the sea remembers every mistake.

We thank the Transport and Technical School for the always excellent cooperation!
