On Wednesday, February 2, we held our second Eco-Wednesday as part of the “Kornati – It's Important to Know About the Sea 10” project, co-financed by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth.
The workshop was led by our volunteer Naelys, and the program was organized around three fun and educational activities.
The first activity involved a “sea box” – blindfolded children pulled items out of the box, and in the end they realized how much plastic actually ends up in the sea compared to living creatures.
In the second activity, participants took part in a “decomposition auction,” where they tried to guess how long it would take for various items to break down in nature. Through this game, the children learned how important it is for people to take responsible actions to repair the damage they do to the environment.
The final activity was a board game in which, through a fish-rescue simulation, they recognized how their decisions and actions can help preserve the ocean.
Through games and discussions, the children learned how long waste remains in the environment, how much plastic accumulates in the ocean, and how each of us can contribute to protecting the marine ecosystem. They surprised us with their knowledge, enthusiasm, and engagement, and we all had a great time!
We're looking forward to the next Eco-Wednesday on March 4th – see you there!
